This is a writing workshop based on Our Granny by Margaret Wild. I undertook this workshop with a group of Year 5-6 students. I had previously led a sharing session with these same students on their Our Granny writing. The aim of the workshop was for the teacher to provide instruction to the group around a nominated writing skill (in this case, making changes to your writing) through a piece of text that one of the students had generated. Prior to the session, I had introduced and read the book Our Granny by Margaret Wild to the class and launched a subsequent writing lesson from which each student had selected a person who was special to them and written about what made that person special.
